King Jammy Reflects on his Enduring Legacy with DJ745 from the UK

King Jammy sat down for an exclusive interview with DJ745 of Reggae Interviews. Filmed at the historic 38 St. Lucia Road, Waterhouse, Kingston 11 the home of Jammy’s world-renowned studio. The conversation offers a deep dive into the riddim that revolutionised reggae and dancehall.

 

International Recognition & Greensleeves Partnership

Jammy also reflected on his longstanding partnership with Greensleeves Records, which played a pivotal role in bringing his music including Sleng Teng to international audiences. Starting with hits like Junior Delgado’s “Love Tickles Like Magic”, the partnership helped spread Jammy’s sound from Kingston to London and beyond.

“Greensleeves was always on point, quick to release and market the songs, which helped the music reach the world,” Jammy noted.

A Lifetime of Honors

Reflecting on his career, Jammy expressed pride in being honoured by the Jamaican government with the Order of Distinction, as well as a proclamation from the New York Senate for his contributions to music globally.
